  • Ethambutol 275, Isoniazid 75, Pyrazinamide 400, Rifampin 150 is a fixed dose combination tablet and used with other cancer medicines for anti-TB chemotherapeutic regimens. It is a pinkish-violet coloured, biconvex, caplet shaped, film coated tablet and plain on both sides.
  • The medicine belongs to the class of antituberculars, ethylenediamines, hydrazines, isonicotinic acids; pyrazines, rifamycin.
  • The combo is used for antibacterial therapy.
  • Rifampin 150: It is a complex macrocyclic antibiotic that inhibits ribonucleic acid synthesis in microbial pathogens and it is a semisynthetic derivative of rifamycin.
  • It has bacterial action and a potent sterilizing effect against tubercle bacilli in both cellular and extracellular locations.
  • Isoniazid 75: It is a hydrazide of isonicotinic acid. It absorbs and diffuses into all the fluids and tissues. The half-life plasma is genetically determined and it is highly bactericidal against replicating tubercle bacilli.
  • Pyrazinamide 400: It is a white crystalline powder and pyrazine analog of nicotinamide.
  • It stays stable at room temperature and soluble in water.
  • Ethambutol 275: It is a synthetic congener of 1,2 –ethane diamine and used in the combination of anti-TB drugs to prevent or delay the resistant strains emergence.
  • The combination medicine is used in antibacterial therapy and intensive phase of treating tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis in adults and children with more than 20 kg weight.
  • Use separate preparations of the ingredients if one of the ingredient is suggested to be reduced.
  • The medicine is taken on empty stomach to improve gastrointestinal tolerance.
  • It largely reduces the risk of developing neuropathy.
  • It inactivates bacteria enzyme (RNA polymerase) that has essential proteins and reproduces TB bacteria.
  • It prevents the multiplication and growth of tuberculous bacteria in the body.
  • Do not use the medicine if you have liver disease, an attack of gout, history of chills, fever, joint pains, and stiffness.
  • Take proper care of your eyes as the medicine may blur the vision.
  • The tablet may cause temporary discoloration of your teeth, sweat, urine, and tears.
  • Monitor the plasma concentration in your body and reduce the dosage of the medicine if you have renal impairment.
